This Privacy Policy explains how HatChat ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit hatchatstudio.com, contact us, or place a wholesale enquiry. It applies to this website and to the social media accounts we operate under the HatChat name.
HatChat is a hat and accessories brand operating the website hatchatstudio.com. For any privacy question, or to exercise any right described below, contact us at [email protected]. We respond within 30 days.
Information you give us. When you place an order or send a wholesale enquiry: your name, email address, postal address, telephone number, company name where relevant, and the contents of your message.
Information collected automatically. When you browse the site: IP address, browser type and version, device type, pages viewed, and referring page. This is used in aggregate to understand which products interest visitors.
Payment information. Orders are processed by our payment providers. Card details are entered on their systems and are never stored by us.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.
To fulfil and ship orders; to answer enquiries and provide customer service; to send order and shipping notifications; to send marketing emails only where you have asked to receive them; to understand site usage in aggregate and improve our range; and to meet legal and accounting obligations. Our legal bases are performance of a contract, your consent (for marketing), our legitimate interest in running and improving the business, and legal obligation.
We use a small number of cookies that are necessary for the site and the shop to function, and aggregate analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles of individuals. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some shop features may not.
We never sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who need it to do their job for us — our ecommerce platform, payment processors, and shipping carriers — and only for that purpose. We may also disclose information where required by law. Where data is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards offered by those providers.
We publish our own product photography and editorial content to social media accounts we own, including Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram, and we read the aggregate performance statistics those platforms provide for our own posts. We do not collect, store or process the personal data of other users of those platforms, and we do not post on anyone else's behalf.
Order records are kept as long as required for accounting and tax purposes. Enquiry correspondence is kept while the enquiry is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.
You may ask us to give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time — every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
The site is served over HTTPS and access to order data is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the information we hold.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be highlighted on this page.
