Fit Guide

Choosing a hat you'll actually wear

Three things decide whether a hat becomes a favourite: it fits your head, it suits your day, and it survives your suitcase. Here is how we think about each.

1. Measure your head

  1. Take a soft tape measure (or a ribbon and a ruler).
  2. Wrap it around your head where a hat naturally sits — about 1 cm above the ears and across the middle of the forehead.
  3. Keep it snug but not tight. Note the number in centimetres.

If you are between sizes, size up: natural fibres relax slightly with wear, and an inner band can always be tightened. Knitted beanies and berets stretch and need no measurement.

2. Choose a silhouette for your day

Wide-brimSlightly back, brim shading the faceBeach, garden, long walks in sunRaffia styles roll; woven-braid brims need a box

Look for the Packable mark on a product — it means that style can be folded or rolled and will recover its shape. Styles without the mark should travel in a hat box or on your head.

3. Colour, honestly

Our lightest colourways — natural, ivory, oat — read differently between screens and daylight, and vary slightly from piece to piece because the fibre is hand-woven. If you need an exact match, email us and we'll photograph the piece you'll receive.

4. Bringing a folded hat back to life
